ABOUT THE AUTHOR

Dr Amit Srivastava did his B.E. from University of Roorkee (now IIT Roorkee) and M.E & PhD from IISc Bangalore. His area of research interest is Geotechnical engineering and his PhD work was on “Risk Analysis of Earth Dams under Static and Earthquake Loading conditions”. Currently, he has 100+ publications in national and international journals and conference proceedings out of which 45 publications. He has also written 2 book chapters contributed to many research and consultancy projects. He has presented his work on various national and international platforms and visited places like Italy (Ravello), Egypt (Alexandria), France (Paris), UK (Coventry).

He has been honoured with three national of India (Prof. C.S. Desai Biennial Award – 2014; IGS-AFCONS Biennial Award – 2010; IGS-Smt. Indra Joshi Biennial Award – 2008) from Indian Geotechnical Society (IGS) and 1 international award from ASCE (EWRI Best Paper Award – 2015).

G L Sivakumar Babu completed Ph.D.(Geotechnical Engineering) in 1991 from Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore, India. He worked as Humboldt Fellow in Germany during June 1999- July 2000 and as Visiting Scholar, Purdue University, Lafayette, USA. He is presently the President of Indian Geotechnical Society, Chairman of International Technical Committee (TC-302) on Forensic Geotechnical Engineering (FGE) of (ISSMGE). He is a Fellow of ASCE and is also serving a Governor, Region 10.

He guided 17 PhD and 5 MS research degrees and wrote a book on soil reinforcement and geosynthetics, edited eight books and has received several awards such as John Booker award from IACMAG, Humboldt fellowship from Germany, DST Boyscast Fellowship, and several award for the best papers from Indian Geotechnical Society and American Society of Civil Engineers.
